Findmypast is unrivalled when it comes to UK parish records and Irish family history resources and to prove it, we're making all of our British and Irish record collections FREE to everyone from Thursday 22 - Monday 26 June 2017.

Free access will begin at 9am (BST) on 22 June and end at 11.59pm (BST) on 26 June

During this time you can enjoy over 1.1 billion of Findmypast's British and Irish records completely free.

What's Included in the FREE Access?

The easiest way to see what is included in this special free access is to visit our A-Z of records. All of the record sets listed under both the United Kingdom and Ireland sections of the 'Showing records from' menu are included.

What's Not Included?

Our premium record set, the 1939 Register is exempt from this free access promotion. Our historical British and Irish newspapers, which sit in a separate search interface to the rest of our records are not included either. For privacy reasons, UK Electoral Registers 2002-2014 and UK Companies House Directors 2002 - 2014 are also not included. Remember also that none of our record collections from the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand are included. To explore any of these records, you'll need a suitable subscription. How Do I Access the FREE Records?

From 22-26 June, you can take advantage of our free access to British and Irish records in 3 simple steps.

1. Register or Sign-in

If you are not already registered with Findmypast, you'll need to do so in order to view the free records. Registering is free and only takes a few moments. Simply visit our registration page and complete your details to set up your Findmypast account. If you are already registered with Findmypast you can sign-in from that same page using your email address and password.

2. Search British and Irish Records

To start searching our free British and Irish records, click 'Search' on the blue menu at the top of the site and select 'Search all records' from the drop-down list.

This will bring you to the general search page. In order to search the free British and Irish records, your search location must be focused on either Britain or Ireland. Make sure the country on the drop down menu on the top or left hand side of the screen is set to Britain or Ireland, depending on which country's records you're interested in.

Fill in the search form with any details you know about your British or Irish ancestors and click the blue 'Search Britain records' or 'Search Ireland records' button.

3. View the Records

Once you've clicked search, you'll be taken to the search results page where records matching your criteria will be listed. You can edit your search or order the results from this screen. If you would like to view any of the free records click the small blue transcript or image icons beside it. The transcript is a typed version of the record, containing the most important information, while the image, where available, will show you exactly what the original record looked like and often contains extra details that the transcript doesn't.
