The 1939 Register offers a comprehensive overview of the civil population of England and Wales in 1939. The closest thing we'll have to a census until the release of the 1921 census, 1939 is the most significant family history release of the decade.

In association with The National Archives, we're bringing the Register online for the first time ever, and it will only be available to view on Findmypast. To give you a glimpse behind the scenes of the process of conservation, scanning and digitisation, we've produced a short video showing the hard work the team are doing to give you access to the Register.
