    my father sgt edward james alexander was a dems gunner ra attached to merchant ships in ww2, i know he was mentioned in despatches. i would like some information on his army carreer please. john paterson

    My late father sgt Edward James Alexander served both in WW1 and WW2 with the RA, in WW2 he was a DEMS gunner on Merchant Ships and was at some time mentioned in despstches. Do you have details of his career and his service numbers please. Yours John Patewrson

    My great grandfather William Burton was a master gunner who fought in the Crimea

    He had medals with bars for Inkermann, Alma and Balaclava. He served in the Gunners

    for 25 years but I could find no record of him in R.A. records
