01 Aug 2012A new, fairer deal on PayAsYouGo credits
We’ve listened to your feedback and have changed the way our PayAsYouGo credits work to give you a better, fairer deal.

Now, when you buy new credits on findmypast.co.uk, we’ll give your expired credits back to you, up to a maximum of 280. This applies to any credits that have expired within the last two years.
This is a great opportunity to get a second chance to build your family tree.
Claiming back your expired credits is easy. Just sign in to findmypast.co.uk, click ‘subscribe’ on the top right of the page and choose either 280 or 60 credits.
Once you’ve bought these, you’ll be able to see your new credits total – which will include your expired credits – on the top right of any page when you’re signed in to findmypast.co.uk

And why should the credits expire in the first place? We have to pay you more to use what we already paid for before?
I agree with Mike. If I’ve already paid for the credits why do I need to buy more in order to use them?
i agree with the above
your making customers pay twice , now i know why its called pay as you go,we pay you go off with the money, nothing should expire ,fullstop ,look how many credits you took of me today, very annoyed and very upset off to watchdog
shouldnt we decide when it expires ,then not have to pay for more to get back what you have already took of us,an expiry date is not a valid reason ,it shouldnt expire ,it took me 2 hours to load a page from a family tree search last week,i even gotta a pop from find my past saying loading times are slow due to heavy traffic, please wait ,so i waited and waited,
if you could wait the same till my credits ran out it would be appreciated
Hi Mike and Jo-Ann,
Credits have to have an expiry date for accounting reasons – it’s not possible to have an indefinite liability on our accounts, so we have to apportion the revenue from a voucher over a set period of time.
We have the most generous expiry dates of any family history website: our £24.95 credits package takes a year to expire. We want to make sure you get the best possible deal, which is why we’ve introduced this new policy to allow you to reactivate the credits you thought you’d lost.
Hope this helps!
Jess (findmypast.co.uk digital content manager)
I am sorry but Audible.co.uk credits do not have an expiry date on them so I am not sure why your website is any different.
