  • Sue Castle-Henry

In the 1840-1871 period of the Rotherhithe baptism and marriage records in the Thames and Medway Records, Rotherhithe is listed as being in the county of London whereas, at that time, it was actually in Surrey. This inconsistency with your other records which do have Rotherhithe in Surrey leads to incomplete search results. As my ancestors moved along the Thames from Rotherhithe to Battersea, I entered the surname and “Surrey”. It was only later that I discovered that, if you search for surname and “Rotherhithe”, you get a mixture of Surrey and London in the county column. Could you please rationalise this?
