Make sure you tune into Who Do You Think You Are? tonight at 9pm on BBC1. This week actor Rupert Penry-Jones find out about his past. Rupert’s mother was born in Karachi and Rupert embarks on a journey to discover more about his Indian roots.
Rupert learns about his maternal grandfather, Bill, who was a doctor in India. This discovery inspires Rupert to travel to India where he finds out about his great-great-great-great grandfather Thomas who was part of the Great Indian Rebellion.
Dear all,
I have enjoyed all three programmes, but thought there were other avenues that could have been followed up. Nevertheless I found them very interesting.

Some of us have researched for years in UK and have no photos, and certainly no correspondence, of even fairly recent family.
It was, therefore, quite astonishing to find that someone following a family rumour can be shown examples of both, and on another continent.
I’d be interested to know how the Indian archivists came to have these documents, when the family did not.
