First of all, apologies to all of of you who experienced a slow site during Saturday’s first England match: we were slightly overwhelmed by the response. But like the England team, we are now in hard training to make the second part a much more satisfying experience!
Although it’s great to hear that many of you found some nuggets during the free period, we’re working on a plan to make sure that everybody (especially our subscribers) get the normal, fast findmypast experience for the second match this Friday evening. And we’re also plotting ways to make sure that those based overseas don’t have to set their alarm clocks for strange hours to take part.
Keep an eye on this blog for more news, but if you haven’t registered yet, please do so now!
To say ‘we e were slightly overwhelmed by the response’ merely adds to the sense that the promotion was run on rather inadequate and somewhat naive preparation. It was obvious the day before, from various comments on numerous family history websites and others, that uptake would be huge. Indeed, typing the words ‘find my past free football offer’ in any search engine immediately produces (and did so on Friday/Saturday too) a sample of the numerous sites that carried links to the offer once details were released. As part of the Bright Solid Group, whose tagline says ‘Innovative online thinking that delivers high availability, high performance products and services’, your excuse for the fiasco does seem a bit lame and your apology does little to compensate me for my time and inability to achieve what your offer originally promised.I was available on Saturday to avail of the offer, but may not be available on the other dates/times……..
I have attempted to get death records NUMEROUS times and all I get is the note “0 credits.” I read the email and it said death records through 2006. Am I doing something wrong????
